Can be useful for fungi and bacteria.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The medicating action of Melaleuca essential oil is mainly of an anti-infection type, against bacteria, some viruses and many fungal infections. It acts against bacteria in the greatest number of cases, as a bactericide, that is it is capable of destroying germs in the same way as an antibiotic. Melaleuca essential oil is also interesting in the way it acts against fungi.

It affects numerous types of these parasites such as Trichophytum, Microsporum and Candida and is very suitable for local application. At medium or medium-high concentrations it mainly destroys the fungus concerned. This is very important in that Candida-type fungi are very common in patients with weak immune systems, for example people with tumours, serious infections, diabetes mellitus and many other types of diseases.

There have been clinical studies which have confirmed that these properties are effective on human beings showing that applying melaleuca oil can heal the majority of skin or nail infections caused by fungi or bacteria.

SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS:

May sometimes cause allergic skin reactions where applied. It may be used externally during pregnancy or while breast-feeding and on children from the age of 1.
